RTU cooperation with the People’s Republic of China

In the beginning of summer for Riga Technical University was actively cooperating with universities of the People’s Republic of China. At the beginning of June, RTU representatives spent two weeks of meetings in Guangzhou and Shenzhen cities within the visit of the Latvian higher education delegation. During the visit, the meeting was held with the head of the Department of Education of Guangzhou City Municipality, officials, teaching staff and students from South China Normal University, as well as officials and academics from Jinan University.

Following the establishment of positive contacts on June 14, a delegation from Jinan University to Riga took place. During a short visit, a delegation led by Professor Rao Min, Vice President of Jinan University, discussed the ways of cooperation with the representatives of the RTU International Cooperation Unit, with special emphasis on cooperation in students and staff exchange within Erasmus+ program.

On June 12, University of Nottingham, Ningbo City, under the guidance of Professor May Tan-Mullins visited RTU. During the meeting with RTU International Cooperation Unit representatives were discussed possibilities of student, teaching staff and administrative staff mobility, as well as cooperation in research field.

From June 8 to June 19, RTU hosted the first summer school for 1st year students from Shandong University of Technology at RTU Faculty of Material Science and Applied Chemistry. During study week, the students were provided with interesting and useful lectures at the Faculty of Chemistry, laboratory work, trips to MADARAcosmetics, Tenapors and Tenachem companies, as well as cultural events under the blue sky of Latvia. Positive cooperation between Shandong University of Technology and RTU Faculty of Material Science and Applied Chemistry has been going on for several years and both universities have a real pleasure in expanding cooperation.
