Apply now for the Erasmus+ scholarship and enjoy a study or a traineeship period in Europe.

Application deadlines for submitting an online application at OutgoingExchange.rtu.lv:
25 February (for studies in spring semester);
31 March (for traineeships).

You can apply for Erasmus+ scholarship, in case you are at least 3rd semester student at Bachelor level or 2nd semester student at Master level, your weighted average grade is at least 6.25 (in total for all semesters at RTU), you have no academic or financial debts towards RTU, you have good knowledge of English, German or another language of the EU Member States and a well-defined objective for participating in a mobility.

RTU and University of Strathclyde sign cooperation agreement of joint master study program

On December 11–13, representatives of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Strathclyde in UK – Reader in Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Dr James Irvine and International Development Manager, Ms Jennifer Gazzard – visited RTU to sign cooperation agreement that provides implementation of joint master study program in the field of electronics and telecommunications.

During the visit, they held meetings with the Rector of RTU, Professor Leonids Ribickis, management, academic staff and students of the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications and management of the International Cooperation and Foreign Students Department.

Representatives of the University of Strathclyde visited our facilities in RTU Ķīpsala Campus, where they were informed about RTU’s achievements in cooperation with the industry, as well as was given a visual insight into the technical supply of the university that is used for the provision of the study process and implementation of international research projects.

As well as we would like to convey a gratitude to Dr James Irvine for delivery of amazing lesson to RTU Engineering High School pupils. Our pupils have been taken to a journey through the magic world of wireless or “How Engineers Have Transformed Communications.”

Indonesian delegation visits RTU

On Wednesday, 27 November, a 5-member delegation of Parliament of Indonesian North Sulawesi Province led by its Speaker Mr Andrei Angouw and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia in Indonesia Mr Ayub Junus paid a visit to RTU Ķīpsala Campus.

At the beginning of the visit, Deputy Rector for International Academic Cooperation and Studies, Professor Igors Tipans delivered a presentation about RTU, as well as the parties also discussed possible models of cooperation between RTU and Indonesia’s institutions of higher education.

At the end of the meeting, Professor Igors Tipans and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia in Indonesia Mr Ayub Junus signed the agreement stating RTU’s commitment to provide Indonesia’s institutions of higher education with information, in order to attract Indonesian students.

Afterwards, delegation visited the Institute of Design Technologies and the Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications at RTU, where they were informed about RTU’s achievements in cooperation with the industry, as well as were given a visual insight into the technical supply of the university that is used for the provision of the study process and implementation of international research projects.

The delegation of Parliament of Indonesian North Sulawesi Province consisted of the following members – Mr Rocky Wowor, Mr Amir Abdulkadir Liputo, Mr Raski Azhari Mokodompit and Mr Muhammad Ayub Albugis.

South Korean delegation’s visit to RTU

On Wednesday, 20 November, representatives of South Korea’s Ministry of SMEs and Startups – Lee Seung Woo, Cha Gyeongmi, Minji Yoon – and researcher of Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development Lee Dongha paid a visit to RTU Ķīpsala Campus.

Our guests visited RTU Design Factory and Laboratory House, as well as Latvian Electronic Equipment Testing Centre, where they were informed about RTU’s achievements in cooperation with the industry, as well as were given a visual insight into the technical supply of the university that is used for the provision of the study process and implementation of international research projects.

Riga TU Information and Study Centres opening

On 5 October in the presence of Deputy Rector of Riga Technical University (RTU) Prof Igors Tipans, Deputy Director of Riga Technical University (RTU) International Cooperation Foreign Students department Ms Zane Purlaura, academics, ministry officials, RTU current and prospective students and their parents of Sri Lanka, the opening ceremony of the new premises of Riga TU Information and Study Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka took place.

Deputy Rector of RTU Prof Igors Tipans and Deputy Director of RTU International Cooperation Foreign Students department Ms Zane Purlaura were present also at the opening ceremony of Riga TU Information and Study Centre in Chennai, India on 6 October. Following the opening ceremony, which took place in accordance with local traditions, a press conference was held in which Indian press and television representatives were widely represented. During the press conference, RTU professor Igors Tipans emphasized that the main goal of the centre is to bring the different study systems of Latvia and India closer together and to create a permanent link between Indian universities, colleges and RTU.

RTU long experience of working with Indian students has made it possible to evaluate the Indian students’ previous education background and to conclude that RTU can deepen students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills in their chosen specialty. The practical applicability of the knowledge gained at RTU that has stimulated the interest of Indian students in studying at RTU, especially in Master’s programs.

On 9 October, the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to India Artis Bertulis visited the RTU Study and Information Centre in in Chennai, India.

RTU position in the leading global university rankings is growing, largely due to its purposeful internationalization policy and the growing number of study programs in English. European, Asian and Latin American students have appreciated the quality of RTU study programs, and their numbers are steadily increasing, reaching over 3,500 students from 80 countries last year.

In order to improve the academic quality of Asian students and to assess their ability and readiness to study at RTU in English, RTU is purposefully investing in the region by opening information and study centers. Such centers provide RTU with a permanent presence in the region and serve as a platform for student assessment, promote academic visibility and help to build closer collaboration between RTU and leading Indian and Sri Lankan universities in both academic and scientific fields.

RTU intends to expand cooperation with universities in Italy

On September 16–20, representatives of RTU International Cooperation and Foreign Students Department – Director, Professor Igors Tipans and Project coordinator, Mr Eriks Badamsins – visited Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan, University of Trento and Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

The purpose of the visit was to meet the representatives of above-mentioned Italian universities to discuss possibilities for establishing cooperation in studies, research, as well as in implementation of joint projects and summer schools within different fields.
